I'm having the belts done on my Exclusive Phase 1 172 on the 21st.

All the idlers and tensioners, both belts and water pump will be changed. Anything else untoward on inspection duly dealt with accordingly.

What are people's take on the dephaser? I've read some people don't bother and have issues, is it worth doing? I know the guts will be out of it so makes sense but its bloody dear lol.

its on 126k btw, last change was at 77k and around 4 years ago, the aux belt is squealing when cold as well!

Its had 9 services aswell so frequent oil changes.

Cheers!

If you can afford to do it then do it and that's it, done for five years

Martin - thanks very much. Any ideas how much I'll be looking at?

Both belts and water pump are circa £400, probably another 50-65 for the dephaser (to do)

f**k it, I'll just get it changed. I'm going on the premiss that its never been changed:eek:

Its only an additional £150.

How sick would you feel after paying out £500 for all the belts for the dephaser to start rattling its tits off in three months time.

I'd be pretty emotional I reckon. Tbh, if this new Clio 4RS was out any sooner than June 2013, I wouldn't bother my hoop - but I just cannot let it die

You're minted, just pay it and stop being tight.

Exclusives (Without pony gold wheels!) are superb. Killing one is punishable by hit squad iirc.

The previous owner did the cambelt on my cup 12k ago. He didn't change the dephaser and I've just had to replace it.

There are new ones for £120 on eBay.

Good man, you know it makes sense.

Well it doesn't really on an old car that's not worth much, but it kinda does

I threw £580 at mine over summer too - new belts, dephaser and top engine mount...If that makes you feel any better.

I'd leave the water pump. Worst case scenario and its only on the auxiliary set up anyway plus gen new ones have been known to fail.
