Dephasher noise help.

  BG 182FF
im aware this has probably been asked 1,238,952 times before but i HAVE used the search function and cant find a great deal for MY problem.

Basically as per most 172's the dephaser is slighly noisy once warm. however when im driving and i let off the throttle ( normal driving ) the noise seems to get louder and then dissapears again when i continue to accelerate. is this linked and is it a major problem?

also can the dephaser damage the engine if left.
it will be fixed eventually but for now will it cause damage or is it worth doing straight away ?

also what is the general cost for the dephaser replacing from a renault dealer or similarly a specialist?

will appreciate any help/advice :p

Will take a long time to get to the point of it failing and the noise shall just bug you that much you shall just change it.

the reason its doing that is because when you let off the throttle the oil pressure drops = rattle, you accelerate = high oil pressure = no rattle

i told a customer a year ago his dephaser was noisy, i changed it a few weeks back, you should be ok, just don't hammer the tits off it IMO

luckily you have a 172cup which is much easier to work on (no AC) therefore cheaper!
