Depth of Field - an illusion?

I just stumbled on this webpage and it's making my head hurt slightly...

So Depth of Field doesn't change with Focal Length (assuming aperture and the thing being photographed remain the same size) but the illusion of Depth of Field does change??

But surely our eyes perceive the illusion as an actual change of DoF so it doesn't really matter whether or not there is an actual change in the DoF???

This is too much for my brain when it's 32 degrees outside... lol

Aye. Pointless article but I guess we can now be smartarses and correct anyone that says the DOF changes with focal length.
