Desire - the reviews thread

This thread is here for all of our customers and members of the product test panel to submit reviews, pictures and discuss our flagship wax, Desire.

An overview of Desire:

Auto Finesse Desire started life as a limited edition wax that crowned our line in 2011, but after all 500 pots were sold our customers simply wouldn’t allow it to be consigned to the history books. Back by popular demand, Desire once again stands tall alongside some of the most exclusive waxes that the world has to offer. With the highest carnauba solids content of all Auto Finesse waxes, and a unique melding of beauty and performance, this Desire is simply too good to let slip away…

Auto Finesse Desire contains 54% T1 Grade Brazilian Carnauba Wax by volume, with the remainder being made up by all natural Beeswax, and oils. The combination of these high quality ingredients will insure six months durability on a daily driven car, or up to a year’s protection on your favourite show car.

Preparation is key:

As with any of our carnauba waxes you need a clean, slick surface for Desire to bond to. Our pre-wax cleanser Rejuvenate is designed to work in-conjunction with our hard waxes to insure any last contaminates are removed. The glazing oils in Rejuvenate will then leave behind and clean, slick surface ready for Desire.

IMG_9784.webp

Start by adding a pea-sized amount of Rejuvenate onto a microfiber applicator. Next using straight linear motions work the Rejuvenate into the surface. Once Rejuvenate has cured take a fresh microfiber cloth and buff off any residue.

IMG_9797.webp

IMG_9803.webp

Application of Desire:

Once you have insured the paintwork is ready for Desire, its time to grab a Waxmate. Apply the Waxmate to the Desire and twist ninety degrees to insure the correct amount of Desire in on the Waxmate. As will all of the Auto Finesse waxes, less is more and will help you out when it comes to removal time.

IMG_9833.webp

Using straight lines massage Desire into the paintwork. The oils in Desire insure an easy application and make it a pleasure to work with. Apply Desire around your car or motorbike and then allow to cure and bond to the surface.

IMG_9835.webp

Removal:

Desire will take around fifteen minutes to cure before removal, however this can vary with weather conditions. This cure time will allow Desire to bond to the surface and will insure you gain maximum durability over the forthcoming months.

When Removing Desire make sure to use a clean microfiber towel. For this job we always turn to our Duo edgeless microfiber cloths. These offer a safer experience and have a larger work area that the standard 40x40cm microfiber cloth.

IMG_9810.webp

IMG_9875.webp

The Finishing Shots:

Once Desire has been fully removed and buffed away it will leave a high gloss finish that offers up to six months durability on your daily drive vehicle and up to one years durability on your show car.

IMG_9882.webp

Also the high wax content and oils in Desire will help our car stay cleaner for longer and when it rains the water will simply bead up and sheet off.

IMG_9906.webp

We look forward to hearing and seeing your experiences with Desire and results it leaves for you…

AUTOFinesse JD gally

I have just finished my car. (excuse my noobness)

Washed ,iron out, oblitarate, washed, clayed ,washed, dried , polished with tripple then applied tough coat.

Now have just received my Desire sample (thanks auto finesse) can i just whap this on top??

Review to come;)

tough coat with desire over the top resisted bonded contaminants for quite a while when I tried it although water behaviour didnt last any longer. I stripped it back after 6months and all it required was a quick wipe down with rejunate again ready to re wax, no need for deconamination.

Was most likely to be using RG55 over the weekend but reading this has tempted me to try Desire again

Just got home to this, many thanks!

I may as well do my strip down and reprotection next wash then. I was going to use Tripple, but will this need removing prior to Rejuvenate or can I use Rejuvenate ontop of it?
Auto Finesse @anyofthedetailinggurus

rejuvenate will remove the majority of waxes and sealants including any base products underneath them such as tripple, leaving it's own mild base ready for waxing over.

Maybe silly question, but any benefit to applying revitalise 2 from the earlier test before rejuvenate?

I liked the results from it so before I place an order is it worth getting a bottle too

No benefit really in terms of the performance of the wax other than removing some paint defects like marring or swirls hopefully creating a better finish. Rejuvenate will provide a clean base for the wax

http://www.cliosport.net/forum/show...sire-(very-pic-heavy)&p=10213499#post10213499

After polishing and buffing it off I got the Auto Finesse Rejuvenate out to lay down a base for Desire.

Now, rejuvenate has a smell and consistency of emulsion, couldn't shake the thought that I was sent the wrong bottle... But carried on anyway.

It's a very nice product to use, very easy on and off.

I was over the moon with the state of the paint.

Amazing smell, I preferred Spirit at first but after using it for a while this is much better.

I was very impressed at how far it spread. A tiny dab coated half the bonnet.

The only gripe I had with this was the inability to see where I had applied it. It became easier to see as the micro fibre became somewhat saturated.

It was very difficult to get photos of it curing, but here are my attempts.

Desire. Heard a lot about this one! So glad I finally got to try it out :) luckily (in some ways) it was a very dirty month as the car was attacked by both a cat walking across it and the Sahara desert! I decided to stick to my bonnet for the test as it's the usual panel I use. So this is how it all started...

Now I still had some of the lovely citrus cleaner from the last test so sprayed that all over the bottom half of the car and the bonnet before taking it over to the local jet wash...

Here's how it was looking after the citrus had some time to dwell and a spraying off...

After this I worked my way round the whole car in usual fashion, namely buy applying Mer to everything basically. After everything else was touched up it was time to bring out what we're here for!

This stuff went on an absolute treat! So easy to apply and set it up nicely for the real deal...

Have to admit I didn't have a pad so had to apply with a microfibre cloth. It's definitely true what they say though... a little goes a long way! I could have easily applied it to a few more panels, but this way I get to keep hold of it for future testing. I was going to take a picture as the wax sat there melting into my paintwork but tbh it just went on so smoothly it was hard to pick out. So here are some after pictures. Unfortunately the sun had pretty much gone behind my neighbours house at this point but it looked absolutely spanking

Overall very good I must say. Look forward to seeing how it carries on protection over the next couple of weeks, especially if we get any more crappy sand over here! I used to wax all the time back in the days but kind of fell out of love with it... but this is encouraging me to take action more often. Thanks, AF ;)

Glad you enjoyed using Desire Kayzee and hope it helps you get back into waxes.

And Kunckles, love the amount of pictures and reflection shots you got. Really looked clean.

Be sure to keep us up to date with your findings with Desire,

Joe

Cheers, I was trying to show the state of the paint after rejuvenate, I hate using the word slick but it's the best way to describe it :)

Auto Finesse

Thanks for this months sample of Desire and Rejuvenate,!!

Bit of a mis mash this review as I had just finished doing the car with tripple and the sample of rejuvenate lands with desire, so rejuvenate comes a little later;) plus cannot find all my pictures!!

Started by doing the usual rinse then sprayed the whole car with Citruspower left it to dwell a few mins then jet washed it off. Shampoo’d and rinsed, then cracked out the pre mixed verso I had from a previous review (can’t remember the ratio) sprayed the whole car and left it for about 10 mins. Washed and rinsed again and dried.

I then used tripple over the whole car which bought it up gleaming Spirit had done an awesome job over winter of keeping the crap off.

I had bought some tough coat previously so was an ideal time to seal in that shine and paint pop. Cow me the stuff stinks and makes your fingers freezing even applying with an applicator and is very very hard to see where you have applied and not applied.. Great product though as it added extra glossy’ness to the finish. Can’t wait to do my wheels with it.

The wax Desire I opened it and got a woft of raspberry? The texture compared to spirit is very oily and the tiniest dab of the applicator goes a long way! Nearly a whole panel per dab.

I applied it two panels at a time then removed the first which imo gave enough curing time.

As soon as I can locate the pictures on this laptop I shall upload them.

Anyway fast forward a few weeks , Had a couple of days off work so refreshed the suspension and set about on the bonnet using rejuvenate.

DSCF2467_zps07e0fd91.webp

Washed and dried the car in my usual same manner then cracked open the rejuvenate .

What I had to start with

DSCF2468_zpsc4660940.webp

It smells like tough coat but less potent lol.
I found it to give a real good shine but not as awarding to the eye as Tripple, maybe give more if used with a machine.

Applied (maybe a bit thick )

DSCF2469_zpsaf0db9c3.webp

Done this over the whole bonnet let it dry to a haze then buffed it off leaving a very sleak finish.

DSCF2470_zpsa571bc7c.webp

Dabbed the applictor in the little pot and you can see how much it picks up in turn goes a long way.

DSCF2471_zpsfbcd1bd5.webp

Then I applied Desire over the whole bonnet in vertical lines (maybe hard to see in the pictures)

DSCF2473_zps460ddadf.webp

DSCF2472_zpsc5a7e827.webp

Buffed it off after only a few mins as the air temperature is up a bit today and did not fancy having it baked on. Desire I find slightly harder to come off compared to spirit, both times I have had the same problem. Most likely user error tbf lol.

I prefer desire for the gloss it gives over any other wax I have tried ! But saying that spirit is not far behind it.

So today I stripped and re applied the bonnet and addd a second coat over the rest of the car.

Here are some finished pics! Massively impressed.

Thanks auto finesse

Desire really is a great wax. I own a full size pot and there's no way I would sell it or get rid of it for something else.

My only criticism would be the labels on the pots.

I bought three pots from polished bliss in a 3 for 2 last year to split the costs with two other forum members and the labels on all three pots was either wonky and or bubbling. On the flagship autofinesse product seeing something like this really was disappointing.

My pot of passion also has the same problem.

I really hope autofinesse can address this problem because like I said the wax itself is superb.

To anyone who is thinking of buying a pot don't let my experience put you off it's just a bit of honest customer feedback for autofinesse to improve on an already great product.

Not really sure what you mean by that Martin. I'm not saying it's a big deal but when a company is selling a premium product and the label is wonky with bubbles and creases in it's not really ideal.

I'm sure you can see where I'm coming from and if I can give a little feedback on my experience with the product then it's good for everybody

I've decided desire, so far is very upsetting on an imperfect car.

its so glossy and swimmingly slippery that every little imperfection is shown up in the light.

some imperfections I didn't even know I had!

Im pulling ya leg;) I can understand where you are coming from.

You wouldn't put up with a nike tick on the chuff would you.

Here is my review on the latest test AF Desire wax and the pre-wax cleanser Rejuvenate, this being the 2[SUP]nd[/SUP] wax test, the original being Revitalise 2 and spirit. Within that test I compared the Spirit with my regular wax Dodo Juice’s Bananamour.
So to begin with a couple of shots of how those two waxes have lasted since the application in min November.

DJ on the nearside

DSC_0157-1.webp

Spirit on the offside

DSC_0158.webp

The Spirit seems to have lasted the test of time with a greater level of beading remaining, but both have stood the test of time over the winter , so thumbs up for the Spirits lifespan.

So this is how we started off

DSC_0156.webp

Ideally I would have completed a full decon before starting this test, but ive recently taken on a huge house project and most of my time is torn away from the car at the moment, however applying the Rejuvenate was straight forward and a lovely product, a little goes a long way and this cures nicely and buffs off easily without too much effort. The paintwork after felt nice and clean. I recall being very impressed with the Revitalise 2 and the Rejuvenate has left a similar impression. Just need to decide which will be the better product for me and my regular routine and experience. The verdicts out at the moment, think il have to experiment between the two.

DSC_0160.webp

So onto the wax, Desire being the most expensive wax I have had the pleasure to try. I have always been a fan of waxes over sealants so I was again interested how this would perform against both the Spirit and DJ.

Firstly impressions were this was a slighter harder wax, it didn’t have the soft buttery texture of the Spirit, but not as hard as the DJ, I found applying this easier than the Spirit which initially I would too easy to over apply, (but a lovely product once adjusted my technique) Again the model of a little goes a long way applies. I was surprised how quickly this cured, with the instructions stating to apply to 2 similar sized panels and buff the first when the second has been applied.

DSC_0165.webp

Applying and buffing off was easy without too much effort required to buff off. As soon as I started buffing you could immediate see the results were going to be good and thus why this is the flagship wax product from AF.

DSC_0166.webp

A couple of quick afters,

DSC_0167-2.webp

DSC_0168-2.webp

Il definitely be applying a couple more layers, theres plenty left in the pot so il get a couple more layers on during the week and update as I go.
Given this is more a show wax il be interested how the lifespan is compared to the Spirit / DJ combo.

Desire is defiantely a wonderful product and im very grateful to Auto Finesse for the opportunity to test it. My only reservation is whether my paintwork deserves such a treat on a regular basis. A new car or show perfect wax id buy Desire in a flash, hand on heart, id struggle to justify it on the sunflower with its aging paint, but if it ever gets the restoration I would love to it give, Desire will almost definitely be on my shopping list.

Thanks AF, another fantastic product and praise is well due.
