Detailing clay

  Suzuki Ignis Sport
Yeah that one caught my eye. Is it cheaper to buy online or do they sell it in say Halfrauds?

  ST
How much is it in Halfords then?

£24 mate... http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/..._productId_253057_langId_-1_categoryId_123054#

TBH i'd you'd be better of with some super fine poly clay from chemical guys along with some extreme sythentic detail spray.

Clay: http://www.chemicalguysuk.com/product_p/polcly.htm

Detail spray: http://www.chemicalguysuk.com/product_p/synthe16.htm

The total would be £18.81 delivered due to the 10% discount that David @car wash n wax offers to members.

You can of course just get the clay and use soap and water to clay with if you want a cheaper option still.

I'm not that cheap! lol..

I think i'll get the meguiars quick clay from cleanyourcar.co.uk

Any tips on using it? like weather conditions needed, time etc..

Ive got Green Sonus clay, its much lighter on the paintwork and i use a strong car soap and water mix in a spray bottle, works fine for me...

Problably will get some Quick Detailer when i can get round to it but its working fine for now.

Get the megs for first time probably..

I put it in warm water when outside, keeps it soft and moveable.. Keep the clay fairly flat and use lots of lubrication, Fold the clay when lots of dirt and dip it in the warm water to warm it up before folding.

Hope it helps abit.

Is this after cleaning the car free of mud etc with car shampoo.

chamois dried, then apply that process of claying?

lol, yeah. I havent actually clayed my whole car yet. Just the Bonnet and bumper. It takes a lot of time. but it gets rid of tar etc. I wouldnt do it every week because my cars dirty the next day.

Its good fun tho, if its warm outside.. And gives a great finish to the paintwork.

  Suzuki Ignis Sport
Yea i'll wait till its warmish weather, saves risking the clay in drying up and cracking.

  Mito Sportiva 135
It doesn't take that long, no more than a couple of hours including glass and wheels. Definitely not something to do every week though, only ever done it twice on mine!

  Suzuki Ignis Sport
Yeah Im guessing with the quick clay, you're supposively meant to use a 3rd of it, so im guessing thats 3 uses.

So that should be ok for me :D

  Shed.
Piece of piss haz, just takes time and patience. Dont be suprised if the clay doesnt pick up loads of shite in the process. how people manage to get their clay bars so grafted i dont know, their cars must be dirty as f**k.

  Suzuki Ignis Sport
I reckon mine will pick up a lot of shite on it, which will satisfy me... if not, then i won't mind lol.. might think i've wasted my time. But we'll see.

  Suzuki Ignis Sport
Halfords didn't have the quick clay, so i bit the bullet and paid a bit more for the Smooth Surface Clay Kit.

Even better right?

No difference in the clay I don't think, you just get a microfibre and a sample of something. Cleaner wax is it?
