Adam, I'm based in the East Mids, and, it's tough. If you're new to the scene, you're going to struggle. How much work have you done? What is your most 'wanted' package? You must have work ready and waiting before taking the plunge. I was a 'weekend warrior' for three years prior to going live.
At the minute, it's quiet. "who'd of thought, eh?
" BUT, this time next year, I will have picked up more maintenance contracts in which I visit my regs on a bi-weekly basis. Valeting! That's your bread and butter money.. It'd be great if we could all 'Detail' everyday - but we all know that isn't going to happen overnight.
My advise? Get cracking. Get involved in groups, pick up regular work and hope they pass it on to their friends, who then tell their hairdresser who then passes it on to two or three of their clients etc etc. It's a vicious circle. (...if you can get the ball rolling in the first place)
Here is an after of one of my most recent 'big' jobs.. A classic Range Rover put through an Enhancement Detail in readiness for a sale.
This was a lead that was three customers long. IE, Customer A, told his friend (customer B). Customer B then had me work on theirs, and, they told their friend (Customer C..) etc! Customer C is now passing an SL63 AMG on to me. Happy days? I think so.
You need to be a step-ahead of yourself everyday. Our trouble is, every Tom, Dick and Harry that has access to a Porter Cable7424 or equivalent is offering their services for £100. Uninsured, lack of experience with finishing down, lack of experience with different paint types and product uses, and, half of them haven't got PTG's to measure the paint they're removing. Mind, we all have to start somewhere.
Slammed172, ouch. bit of T-cut though and you should be OK
:approve:
