I must admit turtle wax speed wax is good i used it today and its good

Same - Always blot.

I guess this is to limit swirling...

When you apply EGP or SRP for example though you'll always wipe rather than blot to remove the excess? surely this too will create swirling then?

Blotting is only for the drying stage when using waffle weave type towels.

Polishing, Waxing and QDing I always use plush Microfibers and wipe normally.
