diesel emissions / injection help please

OK got in my 115 dci trafic this morning and on starting the preheat light with the zigzag light above it and service light came on. Bear in mind I haven't used it for two days so the fault occurred whilst not being used. NOW the emissions light has come on but its driving normally at the moment. My first thoughts are egr valve assuming it has one as it has no loss of performance. Any ideas anyone? Is there a decent fault code reader for diesels? I don't want my renault dealer to have it because they are useless. Would a diesel specialist like Lucas be better if needs be. Thanks

Go to another dealer realy needs to be on the Renault clip system

I've had a few of these F9Q's in recently with similar issues... they've mostly been glow plug/Thermoplunger issues.

Needs to go somewhere with either CLIP or a fairly decent bit of professional kit as an eBay generic scanner won't touch this.

Thanks mick, I decided to give my dealer another chance as I can't do without my van. Am sat in the showroom and have just been told its the airflow meter shorting to earth so am letting them get on with it!

The MAF sensors are also very common items to go on these but they tend to stop the van moving faster than 50mph. How much did they charge you in the end?
