Different shape mid pipes?

Is the mid pipe on the mk2 ph1 all the same(for non RS) As my mate who has a 1.4 8v S the part which attaches to the cat has a bend in the pipe, but i thought they were all straight pipes until they meet the backbox?

Anyway i need to knwo asap as i wanna buy it off him and just wondering if it would fit a 1.6 16v?

I know the 1.4 8v has a different exhaust system as the manifold runs down the front of the engine instead of the back, the cat sits under the engine, not in the middle of the car.
