differential circlip question answers asap please

after taking off my driveshaft the circlip was misshaped and appeared to be my problem now trying to put a new washer and circlip in there is a tiny lip for the circlip to sit on and after hours of trying i think that maybe there has been damage and the lip has worn away, do i need to put the washer in? or do i need a new box?

once the circlip goes it generally goes all the time due to the lip being worn away. if its worn too much your looking at a new box

cheers mate just verified what i already thought, now is it true that in newer boxes the circlip is bolted someway in place or can i use a box from either a 172 or 182 cup or no cup

yeah i bilieve it is. as for the boxes, if you have a cup then you need a cup box due to them using the diff speed sensor. if you dont have a cup then any jc5 will do the job

right so a cup box wont fit but a newer jc5 box will have the modified circlip in it say from a 2004 onwards???????

the cup box will fit a non cup but youl probably have to bung the hole for the speedo sensor up.

im sure most jc5's have bolt in diffs. cant be 100% sure on that tho
