Digital Clock resets itself.

I have been experiencing problems with the digital display on my Clio mk2 instrument panel. The problems began with the trip distance automatically resetting itself after roughly 400 miles, which did not seem right to me. The fault has now progressed to the clock intermittently resetting itself. I wondered if it could possibly be an intermittently faulty relay? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
