Not

itll be fine. Id say they get far more wear from use rather than weathering over time...

just my opinion though...

but its £200 for piece of mind I guess....

Change it, time is as much a factor as use.

The cambelt will deteriorate over time, get it done or risk a hefty garage bill!

if you are buying from garage, get them to do it or no deal, if a private sale, knock them down the money it will take to get new one fitted.

hange it. Just search on here for cambelt snapped in title and you will see a few Willy owners have suffered through thinking they could wait till 72k. Quite a few Willy owners dont use their car everyday so milage is low but still snapped theirs, time is the factor. If in doubt get it changed. BB did mine and they also found the water pump was corroded at same time. Clutch may also be a possibility at same time too. Fair enough its a big bill but 5 years piece of mind is worth it.

Another thing mate, 17k miles in five years seems bloody low. Check its not been clocked. Old MOT certificates should prove.
