I bought two Michelin Pilot Sport 3s off a user on here and was told that they were both brand new. They certainly looked to have a bit of meat on them so happy at my bargain, I had them fitted. A few months later and one was losing air and it was found to have a split in the bit that connects to the inner alloy so I had to get a new one.
Of course this meant that they had uneven wear. One was new and one was a few months old.
Now, one is nearly on the wear marker and one has around 4mm left. The worn one keeps spinning up in the wet so it'll need replacing soon!
I can't find any part worn PS3s to buy and I don't want to buy another new one and keep having odd treads.
One option is buying a different tyre part worn, waiting until they both wear down and then replacing them as a pair. Is it sensible (read: will it kill me in the wet) to have odd tyres on one axle, particularly the front? Or will it not be too bad? Any other ideas?
