Dilemma with my tyre wear...

I bought two Michelin Pilot Sport 3s off a user on here and was told that they were both brand new. They certainly looked to have a bit of meat on them so happy at my bargain, I had them fitted. A few months later and one was losing air and it was found to have a split in the bit that connects to the inner alloy so I had to get a new one.

Of course this meant that they had uneven wear. One was new and one was a few months old.

Now, one is nearly on the wear marker and one has around 4mm left. The worn one keeps spinning up in the wet so it'll need replacing soon!

I can't find any part worn PS3s to buy and I don't want to buy another new one and keep having odd treads.

One option is buying a different tyre part worn, waiting until they both wear down and then replacing them as a pair. Is it sensible (read: will it kill me in the wet) to have odd tyres on one axle, particularly the front? Or will it not be too bad? Any other ideas? :(

I'm not being tight but they cost around £108 per piece so I'd like to get my wear out of them!

Is this a windup?
I've got one good tyre and one s**t one. I can't find one with the same wear to replace the s**t one. They should always be replaced in pairs but I don't want to waste even more money by getting rid of my decent one.

What would you do (when you've paid £100+ per tyre x3 already)?

Just a heads up but I got 2 michelin ps3's posted for £160 give or take a couple quid from camskill on sat.

As for the actual question I couldn't comment tbh. Personally I'd probably just buy the one that needs replacing. If I felt the other didn't have long I'd probably just replace that and keep it as a spare if you have space.

Cheers Adam, what size?

I think mine are awkward to find (part worn anyway) as they're 205/45/16 and a lot of people use 195s.

With one being good and one crap, if I bought a new one I'd still have one good and one crap. I'll have to measure exact treads when it's light tomorrow.

205/45/16 mate. There's a few but I went for the lower load rated ones as they are perfectly adequate for a clio imo.

Edit, just seen the above, damn that's cheap!

Mine are the XL ones so come in at £80 or £96 on Camskill. Tempted to buy two at that low price now though! Cheers for the links lads.

I've used tyre leader.
Never again though.
They sent the wrong tyre and I was on my own as they didn't care.
Their error not mine.
