Direct line insurance with mods

Car  6/468 17poo
Is anyone on direct line with modifications? Got told that the compulsory excess will be £500 just with lowering and exhaust..

They're very picky with age & modifications, which is bad news for most on the forum...

...but excellent news for average people with standard cars.

if your going to modify your car my advice is to use a specialist . even if direct line cover you with mods they wont replace the uprated parts like for like in the event of an accident

like dave said there is a great chance we can save you money . thanks dave

Neil, I have a question for you (Sorry for the thread hyjack!).

My insurance is up in June, and as I'm 21 in April, I'm planning on getting soem quotes from specialists for my 200, as it's slightly modified. If I were to sell the 200 later on in the year (October time) would you be as competitive on a standard car? Or would you say may as well stick with Admiral and the likes?

it depends on what sort of standard car really mate . if its still some kind of hot hatch you will be fine. might be worth while either pming me or calling the office for a chat mate

They won't insure a modified car until you are at least 25 and even then its only specific modifications that would be covered.

Direct Line offer a pre-packaged product so its not really designed for modified cars or specialist cases as they don't have the underwriting capability to insure outside the box. Its a product designed for the masses which allows them to provide quality cover and competitive prices.

Im 29 and the 172 is only lowered and aftermarket exhaust (due to the high prices Renault want for exhausts/springs) Ive stayed with Admiral for now...£350

I changed to greenlight last year from direct line.
saved me just over £500.
Just renewed with them again, great service.
