Disaster!!...help?

  Clio Dynamique Noir
Okay so i bought myself some v-maxx coilovers and fitted them this weekend. Ive got a 1.2 Dynamique and bought some 182 alloys off a guy on here with 205/45 on them. Fitted the coilies..took aggees! All the bolts were rusted on...so i drove to work this morning and i had a flat tyre on the front! Took the wheel off and the spring platform, the blue adjuster for the springs had chewed into the tyre enough for it to lose air! I really didnt know what to do i was stuck! I phoned k-tec and they were helpful, told me that 205 is too big for my car! So ive now put my old 15's back on for now...ive adjusted both front suspension to the same height and fitted the new back suspension and springs but theyre not the same height! And the rear springs are more or less flat! Anyone got any suggestions please or in the surrey / south east area that could give me a hand? Or would renault help me with this? It really feels horrible to drive and it isnt right! starting to get a bit desperate with it now. Cheers!

If you drive it without spacers on with coils your going to have major major scrubbage from the shock to the tire. Make sure you've got that clearance!

You mean the front and back are different heights? You should have the adjuster rings on the bottom of the springs that screw up or down to control the spring height.

Ye ive now learnt that! The hard way...and ye theyre not the same height but i have adjusted them to the same level! And the rear springs just look completely compreased and flat!
Cheers Alex

Did you do anything with the camber?
I had similar issues. I got spacers though, so the camber could be adjusted properly, then had wheel alignment done to sort out the steering.

Think what im going to do now is keep the 205's on the 16's and get some spacers with some extended bolts...then ill sort out the ride height and then get the tracking done...what do you think?

Yep that's a good plan. That's exactly what I did. I got some FK spacers, extended bolts from europerformance.
then once they were on, sorted out the ride height properly and once I was happy then got wheel alignment done.

What size tyres you got on yours? Cuz ive been told that I need spacers that extend the hub out, think its called a spiggot or nose? Where did you get yours from?

I got mk FK spacers direct from FK, search them on google.
I've got 20mm each side on the front, and 15mm each side on the back. I'm running standard 15" though, so 185/55/15.

You just need Hubcentric spacers, to make the wheel sit further out the arch, to stop the rubbing on the inside. not sure what you've been told lol?

Well ive been told that I need a 10mm hubcentric spacer, enough for the whell to clear the spring platform and hubcentric so that the wheel has enough 'hub' to sit on. But I dont think anyone makes a 10mm hubcentric spacer. So im thinking just to buy the standard 10mm one with the extended wheel bolts and see how I get on...Cheers for the links James Ill check them out!

BAD idea

Yea Mark, as said, any spacers over 5mm you'll want to make sure you get hubcentric ones. They are much safer. Otherwise the wheels will be resting on the bolts, rather than the hub, putting them under a lot of stress, meaning your wheel could potentially come off if the bolts snap under the stress.

FK do 13mm Hubcentric spacers (the 26mm ones) so I'd go for them with longer bolts then you should be sorted.

Or you could always go bigger :)

Yeye ive seen them, might have to order these ones as 13mm seems to be the smallest hubcentric spacers anyone sells! And definately dont want to go any bigger!lol

Get a 172 instead of spending all your cash on coilies, spacers, wheels n tyres etc

I will get myself a 182 when it doesnt cost me £6000 to insure! :(

Cheers james! Just need to bang one of the alloys on and try and sit it 13mm off the hub and see if the tyre scrubs on the wheel arch or the coilover! If it doesnt then i need to measure the length of the original bolts, 25mm i think, add 13 and order them both, and a new tyre :( then ill bang the new alloys on give her a clean and whack some photos up! Hopefully the 13mm spacers will work! Cheers for all the help..

Ye but I will be running 205/45/16's not the standard 15's so I want to make sure before I go ahead and get the spacers. Okay cheers for the advice and Ill check out europerformance when I come to ordering the bolts! Thanks James!

Phoned up venom motorsport today to order the spacers but they said theyll have to order them from germany and itll take 10 days! So i looked on the FK site to see if they could deliver quicker but they dont sell 15mm spacers on their site! And i tried phoning them but none of the numbers worked! Should I just order the spacers from venom and be patient?

Mark, FK do 30mm spacers on their site, but I think they're out of stock, because I bought 30mm spacers off their site direct.
So you might just have to wait for venom!

I meant to say 13mm spacers...15mm will be too big mes thinks, but james is that per side or 30 alltogether?
