Disk Brakes

I want to up rate my brakes on my clio 1.4 RT and im looking for the biggest disks i can fit behind my phase 1 16V alloys. Does anyone know the best disks that will fit and which renault disks would best suit my problem, the 19 16V or the 21 ????

Yeah think you will need either 16v or 5Gtt front calipers. These apparently are a straight swap and would then enable you to fit big disks.

I think there is a 5Gtt big disk kit for around £200 which looks very nice. Cant remember who from though BB or K-Tek or 5 Alive someone like that.

would the 5 GTt disks and calipers fit straight onto the clio ??

How much of an upgrade do you think this would provide ??

I spoke to the guys at Torsion Tuning and they said that when they do the Gtt engine transplant they also put the calipers on the front and add big brakes.

If thats enough stopping power for a turbo engined clio, Im sure that it would be more than adequate for a 1.4 RT

Plus it would look awesome with the right alloys

I run a 16v/willy brake set up on my 1400. easy swap just need the calipers then the disks and pads bolt it all together and there you go. Much improved brakes.

I also upgraded the disks to maxitorque cross drilled disks and mintex pads.

Yeah 16v/Willy/5GTT front brakes are all actually the same caliper. Running a 259x20 ventilated, if I remember right.
