When should this be changed?

does it make a great difference as i want the engine to have a full make over and running at its best

They get quite battered with time !! if you dont know when it was last changed just change it, they are cheap

they get corroded and worn on the contacts. they can cause running problems if old due to it causing a misfire or in some cases a non start altogethor.
