DMC-FZ7 or S9500

I'm getting my Dad a new camera for christmas. I'm torn between the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ7 and the Fuji S9500. Does anyone have any experience with either of these?? Or have any other recommendations for under £300 from a retail store? (No online, won't recieve it in time.)

FZ7's are in Tesco Extras for about £280. Great camera but the S9500 is probably more "pro" in terms of what it can do. Depends what he needs really.
