Do I need a new box ?

Started slipping out of 5th about 2 months back when doing 70-80mph but after a few long motorway journeys its now happening every couple of mins. No crunching at all, when selecting any other gear you can feel a bit of resistance but with 5th its just sliding in and now has to be held in place for any motorway miles.

Something simple or is a new box required ?

the nut on the end of shaft used to come loose on renaults, dont no if they still do. fifth gear should be easy to do in situ?

5th gear synchro or selector fork fault. Removed gbox end plate to expose 5th gear. Check the gold fork for ware and nylon end caps still on. Check the gold ring on the syncro for ware. If unsure replce syncro and fork. 5th gear is so easy to repair, no need to open box
