Do i need an amp?

  2002 clio 1.2
I had my JVC unit working ok with the front stock speakers. I only have front door speakers and i replaced these with some kenwood KFC-1389ie speakers (38w rms 150w max). The amp inside my headunit blew. The headunits power rating is (19w rms 50w max). The rms is exactly half that of the speakers, is this why the amp blew? because the speakers were asking too much power from it? I am planning on getting the same kenwood speakers again for the back. If im doing this should i get a 4 channel amp? Would a JBL GTO-4000 amp (4 x 50w rms, 4 x 100w max) do? If so i'll go ahead and buy it.

no cause then youwill blow you speakers.

i would buy a kenwood headunit
personall choice i like them, but jvc are shite imo

ten get a good set of comps for the front say jbl 130quid jobby
poeple will disagree but they will do the job

then if you are really fussed about back speakers as I can never remember sitting in the back f my car, therfor no speakers needed as i dont give a s**t about passengers, get some coaxles and run thm fom the headunit.
and power the componets you buy with which ever amp seems most suitable for them.
get a four channel 2 channels for the comps and the other bridged for a sub
sorrted

why will it blow the speakers? can i not limit the amp? if i don't get an amp won't the amp in my headunit just blow again?

yes i suppose you could limit the amp, but then its a waste of money just buy a lower quality amp

i would of thought the amp in your headunit blowing as a result of maybe buying a unlucky s**t headunit and/or just because its JVC

thats what I had for my first H/U the one with the changeable covers
I thought it was a good h/u

then i got my kenwood never looked back now

the amp is up for £60 and i found the speakers second hand for £5 so not too much. I know the headunit is sh** but it has the ipod adapter thing which is good and i didn't pay for it

fair enough, but i will give the advice i heard so many times before by reading post on hear

if you want audio spend a good amount straight away

dont buy shite thinking, when ive got a bit more money i will just get somrt better

i did that and then just ended up have a s**t system

p.s. golf mk4 standard speakers are mint
