do i need DISCS or PADS?

  '14 Auris Hybrid ST
When driving my car, if i have to brake, sometimes its perfect but other times it seems to grind (well it makes a grinding noise) and it just worries me tbh.

when i press it right in, emergency stop, theres no grind and it works fine!
just when i press lightly :/

can anyone Help?

Could be your brake shoes if its a 1.2, mums car done similar recently. Also if your replacing pads then I would do disks and the same vice versa.

On your car you have brake disks and pads on the front and brake drums and shoes on the rear. Wiki or google the differences mate, drums are old hat and are very rarely used nowadays and have been superseded by disks in 90% of cases.
