on the flange from cat to mid box thank you

No. That is the manifold to cat gasket. The cat to mid box is a flange/olive join (I believe that's what it's called) which requires a simple clamp.

The gasket you have posted is essential but just not for that part of the exhaust system.

That looks like a join before the pipe to the back box.

I've never seen a cat like that. But my mechanical knowledge is pretty shocking. Sure one of the more techy people will pop in at some point.

Is it for a 172/82?

Its a choice, I usually fit the round mesh type gasket. Its easier and allows for a bit of flex with the spring bolts. Thats if it is he one im thinking of. Just try putting the round gasket in the flange and if it fits bang it on with the spring bolts. If not fit the flat gasket and use a pair of normal nuts and bolts to keep it solid.

Judging by how clean the inside of the flange, it looks like it had a round gasket in before so.......

Hope that helps!
