Do I wait to buy a laptop?

Hi Guys,
Just a quick question. I was going to get a new laptop this week but just read that Vista will be released here in the next few weeks. Do I wait to buy it with it already on or just buy one now and stick with Windows XP?

Personally Id wait for alot of the bugs in Vista to be ironed out.....Many people I know are only dual booting Vista to get used to it, but will leave it 3-4 months before fully upgrading.

Not everything will work in Vista for a while.

Good advice indeed..

If you must use MS, stick with XP just now, its their best OS to date.

most new laptops and pc's should come with free vista upgrade.

Problem #1 with MS free upgrade,

It literally is just that.. a free upgrade ! whats the problem I hear ?

Well you cant install vista from scratch.. with the free upgrade you HAVE to install XP first then install the upgrade, which in my eyes leaves your hard drive very untidy and causes all kinds of headaches if you need to re-install.. which lets face it you will.. numerous times..

^ I've read that the free upgrade offered is the very basic home edition. You wont get all the fancy Areo eyecandy you've seen reported.

depends how much you pay.

missus acer was about £640 and thats vista premium ready which means she can upgrade to the premium version rather than the shitey home one. altough I admit we don't know how we go about this yet.

KDf, I can see what your saying there. If it was s workhorse PC then I'd want a clean copy but as its just a media machine, should be fine fingers crossed.
