Do these 2 parts need to be replaced?

Hi all,

Had my hub off today and does this lower ball joint need to be replaced? You can wiggle up and down quite a lot - is this normal, or is it just because it's not mounted to the wish bone?

Pic shows the hub upside down:

Also, what part is this in the next picture and does it need replacing? The top piece of rubber has broken off. Also, how easy is it to replace?

Thanks, Phil

I you feel there is to much movement within the ball joint, then it could well be heavily worn.
for what they cost, and while you have it stripped apart, I'd certainly look at changing it for peae of mind.

Arb bush definatly needs replacing.

Can't tell by looking at the ball joint. Change it for piece of mind.

Ok cheers,

So to change to lower ball joint, do I just undo that bolt and it pops off, or do I need an extractor tool?

Also what is ARB and is that easy to change?

The ball joint will come out if you flip the hub over and smack the ball joint through the hub (obviously remove the bolt) there is a tool to remove them but easy enough with out !

ARB is Anti Roll Bar , and that is the linkage that connects the bar each side , the links are readily available and cheap , that needs replacing , just think linkage , not the full bar mate !

Yeh just the arb bush needs changing. Very cheap and easy to do just make sure both wheels are off the floor when changing them.

You need a 10mm socket for the nut and i think its a torx (T40) for the other side. Once un done tap the bolt out and slide each rubber section out.
