I'd normally always want to re-check alignment after doing track rods. However, was the steering wheel straight beforehand and is is still straight now?

If you've only had one side done and the steering wheel is still perfectly straight then I wouldn't pay 40 quid, personally.

For peace of mind I probably would. If they measured, counted turns etc when they fitted the new end then chances are they probably got the new end on within tracking tolerances. So up to you really.

Yes, and my local tyre center charges nothing to check, and £13 if it needs adjusting.

I don't pay to get alignment done as I can do the work myself, so it's probably wrong thing for me to say. But still - if there is only one joint replaced and the steering wheel position is exactly the same (though I bet it's not) then nothing in the alignment will have altered.

Like I said, I'd normally always want to re-check alignment after that sort of job.

been there before, but its other side of town, im more near derby,

The track rod itself is one of the only adjustable parts of your suspension.

You replace part of that how would you know it's right unless it's given an alignment check?

I'm actually a little shocked you're asking the question.

You need to check the toe on the two front wheels. Thats what adjusts the toe.

Yes you should check it, No you don't need to check it. 50% of the cars on the road have alignment out I hazard a guess. Probably more.

about 6 miles from derby
12 to nottingham

looks like four alignment centre in bulwell, but last time i used them, i had to go to colwick, which is miles away for me lol
