Prefer the desktop but my laptop has its uses for when I want to lie in bed and surf the net or when I need it to come with me.

yer, at uni with just my laptop all the time is f**king annoying,

Laptop driving a display with seperate keyboard and mouse is my next challenge.

Not got that yet tho - just got my Macbook Pro and a Windows desktop. I can get like 500% more done on the desktop tho (3 x 17" monitor's.. so lots of space)

Tempted to get a widescreen monitor and do the laptop thing tho..

Laptop.. when i first got mine it was hard getting used to not having a mouse but now i find it an advantage ;)

All I have is 2 desktops. I don't need a laptop tbh so it depends on your application needs I would guess.

  Audi TT Stronic
I find it difficult to take my desktop pc connected to my 37" plasma into the toilet with me so I tend to prefer taking my laptop.. ;)

  Golf GTI 1.8T
Bought my first laptop last year. I was in two minds to get it or a new desktop but now glad I got the laptop, its just so handy to pick up throw it in a bag and take it anywhere.

I dont need the performance of a desktop.

had my laptop for over 2 years, so much prefer it to desktop stuff. Got an external mouse and in that time upgraded the processor through a friend etc. So keep up a high spec laptop and can use it on site without carrying 738716786238742387 wires about with me.

Spose its all about what you need it for.

  A blue one.
Laptops all the way. My powerbook is the best computer purchase I ever made.

Desktop for gaming, laptop for work and pleasure. I have a serious rig for games, a 11" TX3 Sony Vaio for work, and a 17" lappy for pleasure.

I’ve got a 2.6 P4 laptop and a core2duo gaming rig and I prefer the desktop any day. Don’t really use the laptop much anymore it’s mainly used by my old man to wirelessly surf the net in the living room. I might try and sell it to him actually as I really don’t like using it. The screen is too small, it is WAY WAY to slow, its noisy and it get RED HOT!!

Plus my new gaming rig is a bad ass!!:D

  1.6 Astra ... R.I.P. 182
both have their advantages. ive got them all hooked up so just use whichever is closer at the time its needed and aslong as its free. (2 laptops + 2 desktops)

I'm thinking of getting a Vaio AR2 17" notebook to complement my TX3 11". The TX3 is amazing but the screen is too small for coding, so the 17" is needed for writing software. I already have a 17" but would like to replace it with a Vaio AR.

I use macbook pro at home. (small space, too annoying to have a desktop.

At work i use a desktop with 2 monitors.

If i had the space, desktop without a doubt. 2 big 19" screens comfy mouse and keyboard is ace.

Still find it a bit strange using OSX.

similar to gabi.

G5 iMac at home and PC at work, dual screen etc..

tempted to do away with the iMac and get a high spec pc. I wouldnt mind a laptop but i know you pay far more for a high spec one.

Desktop, no silly li'l keyboard or pressure pad (providing you don't have peripherals) and I have a dual-screen @ work and a triple-screen at home. Much more productive.

triple screen?

wots that mean, u line um up so you move sideways along um all?

does it ever feel like a flight simulator?

Yes, I do. And not really lol. My lineup isn't as impressive as Daz's as his are all 17s, mines a 20, 17 and 15, so it looks a li'l odd.

Christ im such a geek, 2 pcs at home, one for gaming, one for doing nothing other than converting hundreds of dvds to avi to stick on our network here, a laptop that i use in the lounge in front of the telly, an old iCrap that i got from work for nowt to prop the bog door open and a really battered titanium G4 Crapbook from work that i got from work because it was going free - i use that to test some interesting stuff im creating for the crapintosh :)

At work im forced (kicking and screaming) to use a G5 Crapintosh with 2 screens - and i f**king hate it.

so is it like all 1 desktop and u just move s**t about? or do u choose which program to be on which tele?

You can put anything anywhere, just move as you would with one screen, just think of it as one wide-arsed desktop (or high if choose you to set it up that way). Generally though I set certain programmes on certain screens (expecially at work). What goes on what screen depends on what I need to compare the most.

The best triple monitor setup I've seen was a guy at work who setup his Macbook Pro to work in conjunction with his PC therefore giving him 3 screens, two from the Macbook Pro and one from the PC (all with the same mouse and keyboard) but it all worked seemlessly - very impressive!
