Dodo Juice

It dont seem to say anywhere what the actual carnauba content of them is anywhere.......

^^^ Does it really matter ? A typical wax will only contain around 15 - 20% carnauba . The main constituent is beeswax , candelilla wax and oils, the darker waxes also contain either montan oil or montan wax , the same that is found in shoe polish. Even the so called " better " waxes will only contain around 30% carnauba as its rock hard , would be almost impossible to spread and would scratch the paintwork .

And some waxes , and i use that word lightly probably don't contain any carnauba as they are petroleum based .

Yea id say it does matter a great deal. At the end of the day its that which determines how deep the shine is and how long it lasts.

You can get wax's upto 70% white by volume.

No doubt its a very low % of yellow carnauba in these products.

Im sure anyone who has tried yellow vs white will appreciate the differences.

I think you'll find the beeswax and oils have alot to do with how long it lasts and the finish as well ;)

Fair bit of discussion on DW on it. Packaging looks cheap and nasty to me and the some of the descriptions don't make sense.

I mean "“Dodo Yellow” – a colour charged hard wax, for more adventurous detailers - WTF?!

I wont be bothering.

Only because you don't like the packaging Rich... you are like a brand *****, but for waxes! I wonder what Lusty will make of these, I am awaiting his review with baited breath! :clown:

Not a brand *****, working in the design industry any packaging that looks cheap and shite puts me off. I used to have to have every new carnuba when it came out....

But I have found the 3 waxes that do the job for me now in Swissvax Onyx, Saphir and Best of Show so have curbed trying things that dont ever live up to my expectations, though I have not yet used my Zymol Destiny yet - saving that for the FCS.

Only joking mate - and anyway I think packaging does communicate a lot about a product. If someone has spent a long time developing a nice brand logo, product name, packaging it obviously will attract you more than the one in a non descript box.

You shouldn't judge a book by a cover, but everyone does and it often gives you a good initial impression. It certainly affects your enjoyment anyway I think, even if it is a slightly placebo type effect.

That Destiny wax though should be amazing, hard to imagine how it could improve on the finish you have already though!

Brazo has played about with the Dodo's and has not raved about them to me yet, will ask him later about his thoughts.

I polished the car at the weekend for the first time since last August so it is wearing only Onyx of the helf that is polished!

Must be looking sweet as now then... get some photos up with the Destiny though!

Think I might go back and PC my bonnet again, its about 96% swirls free now, but what with the sun out the 4% is really annoying me! Bit of a b**ch though taking all the layers off on there but...

We can hear the driveway patter now: “Yes dear, just going to the garage to give the Porsche a rainforest rub…”

lol.

I've just got some Dodo Light through the post today. I'm planning on doing the Cup with it this weekend. Will post some pics up after i've done it. And that will take some time as I've just got a Macbook... how the f**k do you use them :-S

The packaging is shocking, god knows which r****d designed that but it does nothing for the product.

As Rich said im not convinced, in the early days of the product it was rumoured to be linked to Paul Dalton then it wasnt. They claim it to be better than high end waxes etc etc. I have not seen any durability feedback as yet so cant comment.

But in my own mind it seems to be a piece of excellent marketing, but im not going to slate it properly until i have seen results and feedback!! and plus i dont want to spend £30 yet until it's any good

Will be wearing Destiny for the FCS. I still have left the deeper marks in still on mine, planning on keeping it for the forseeable future so don't want to remove anymore clearcoat than I have to.

Yeh, I have one scratch on my bonnet (although very faint) and one just below my boot opening. Then just some minor swirls, but they only seem to appear in petrol stations - does anyone else notice this?!

I'm a bit scared of removing clear coat too, I mean the PC worked excellently considering it was my first time, but I would be so annoyed if I ended up going through the clear coat!

The pakaging looks pretty cheesey but the poduct may be way better than the packaging and the daft product description gives you reason to think.
They seem to have gone for an 'angle' when producing the packaging and the blurb that Rich pointed out;
“Dodo Yellow” – a colour charged hard wax, for more adventurous detailers"
The company who deal with the package design and marketing seem to me to have little clue about how the detailer wants the product to be described.

They mention a world of overpriced waxes then charge £30 when you can get P21s for under £20.

That's what I thought - so maybe these are some top of the range waxes? To be honest though I'm not sure who these will appeal to. They are too expensive for novices, and people looking for top end products will probably go with trusted brands and products (with less silly names!)

However they could be great, so won't knock them until someone tries them. I suggest Lusty...!

Jumping on the bandwagon here what would be best for bringing out Inferno? I've been using Meguiars gold class wax most recently. Anything I can add to my vast collection of car cleaning items that will better it?

Mmmm... black!

It will be a sad day when I no longer have a black car and I'm not scruitinising over swirl marks any more! Actually... not that sad! ;)

Macs r your friends!!!:D

Don't get too concerned about the nuba % guys

This is my car a few months ago wearing dodo green during the testing phase. It looked great but so would any wax over a well polished car ;) I gave it 8/10 iirc so not a bad wax.

I just ordered some of the hard wax, I saw some pictures of it and I was very impressed. Should arrive soon so we'll have to see.

Well I got this and put it on my dads XK8. I have to say I'm very impressed. It was a little reluctant to get some on at first but then I've not really had any experience of paste type wax. It gave very good results and I would rate it highly. Just got to get it on the Inferno now which should come up nicely with it.

Was planning on giving the Clio a good going over tomorrow as it really needs it. But I have heard that its going to f**king rain.

I need to clean my cup too... but the Dodo light is still beading like a warrior.

So far had a 2 weeks (nonstop rain, for one) 600 miles and its still beading well. Think i'm just going to give it a quick once over to get rid of the flies...

Yeah I saw your thread after you cleaned it, did look amazing. My dads Jag is blue as well, but I used the banana armour, seemed to bring it up amazingly.
