Does a 182 need two exhausts?

I’m pretty sure it’s part of the additional 10HP, not that it’s noticeable vs a 172.

But I’m confident you could bin 1 off and still have the same performance

I think it was the exhaust manifold that was where it 'gained the 10bhp'.

Can't see there being any significant effects from just having one tail pipe/backbox.

Looking at the militek I'd say it might impact performance slightly as the pipework narrows when it splits to the two back boxes.

You would be better off swapping it for a 172 exhaust or a lightweight racing exhaust from pure motorsport etc.

This. I wouldn't modify an exhaust that's been designed with the dual outlets (well, as much as some aftermarket exhausts are 'designed'). Easier to just sell it and buy a single outlet version for a 172, then swap the rear bumper too.

I'm with you to be honest. If I was doing a track/race/rally car, I would be looking at ditching the exhaust to save weight too. Just do what I did on my Escort and go side exit :ROFLMAO:
