Does this look like a fubared fuel pump "pics"

  2004 100bhp dci
Right i know i have given up on my dci 100 but then i started reading into it more, and then after a few mambers spoke to me on here and how awesome the dcis are and the fact that i cant buy another car for £3/400 but can repair mine gave me a teiny weiny bit of hope that maybe gave me the uhmm motivAtion to try fix it

firstly i was told to check the petrol tank and that if the pumps pooped its self it should be evident in the fuel tank

so i took the lid off and pulled out the thingy and to me i was pleasently surprised when at first looks i couldnt see any metal, then after using a torch and going over it all i still couldnt see too much metal

i did see some which made my heart sink and think hmm feck it give up but then i thought maybe opinions would help

so does this look like a broken pump

You know it's a diesel, right bruv? ;)

joking aside, Are these pictures looking down into where the pump sits, under the back seats (i think?) Try running a magnetic screwdriver around inside to see if you can attract any metal filings, If you dismantle the fuel filter, if it's shagged i believe it'll be full of metal shavings/filings from the pump giving up the ghost. From looking at a few threads, you'll need something sharp to cut it open as it's hard plastic.

Catch it early and you'll save loads of money as they say. IMO if your filter shows anything , it's probs new pump and everything cleaned out

How much is too much ?
If those little bits in your tank are the only bits not like Alex's tank was, you have a fighting chance to get it drained and everything on the fuel system cleaned ready for a new pump ( or recon )

It has to be cleaned like a operating theatre tho or it'll f**k the new pump up
Fuel filter
Will probs show a little swarf

Any garage will do it for you, new cambelt when pump is done put on.
Ring a diesel specialist near you and ask for a quote to do the work if you supply replacement parts.

PM Alex on here as he's done it twice where as ive only had to do the filter and pump on mine seems as my was caught on the day it went wrong.

Alex should be able to give you a ball park figure on it
