Does your 182......

Feel skittish in these conditions i.e damp roads.

Mine seems to want to spin the wheels all the time even with traction control on and generally feels a bit light at the front end.

Just wondered if this was normal or is it me?

Stu.

when mine was new it was very reluctant to spin the wheels in the wet with esp on, but now its almost impossible to not spin em.

dunno if it coz of my *worn tyres or the fact that the engine is producing power more freely?

If your tyres are worn then thats your problem. My 172 was a headache to drive in the wet with worn tyres. Feels like a different car with some fresh rubber on it!!

Hmm, 4-5 mm is still a good bit of tread. Mind you, the Clios are a skittish car at the best of times. Are the tyre pressures OK??

LOL, "very reluctant to spin the wheels in the wet with esp on, but now its almost impossible to not spin em" - My advice to you is get your traction control checked. I was only last week thinking exactly the same thing when I took it in to the dealer. - ESP/Traction control aint working anymore. Funnily enough, the girl behind the reception desk new exactly what I was on about as hers too had the same problem, so I took the techy out in the car for the blast.

Initially the traction control light came on when I first got the car, now I cant remember the last time I saw it. So unfortunatley for me the car is going in for 1 week to get the following sorted:

1) Windscreen wipers stop working intermittently (70mph on MWay in rain OMG)

2) Traction Control (its gone on holiday)

3) Rattling windscreen blower (getting padding put in)

4) Passenger seat fixed or replaced (rattles like a mofo)

Anyway I knew most of these problems cos alot of people here have had them. Ironically - when I first got the car and read these posts (2 months ago) I thought poor guys/grls mine doesnt have any of those problems. RFLOL it didnt take long. Yeh I love the car but they will bloody well fix it.

P.S hopefully it will settle and become reliable and as solid as my Dynamique but maybe not as solid as my V70

fingers crossed my 182 will be at least as good if not better than my 172, 2 1/2 years of trouble free smile inducing motoring. as for feeling skittish in the wet try toyo proxies and youll know the meaning of the word skittish, they understeer badly and wash out at the front end on roundabouts in the wet.

The roads at the moment are very slippy. Whether they are slippier than norm Im not sure. Not having much weight on the front wont help that much with grip either.

Tyres were spinning today, traction control light flashed at me (ooh er) but didnt appear to be cutting the power. As this is linked to esp maybe i should get this checked.
