Does your airbag deploy if you are not wearing your seat belt?

OK I just installed Sabelt harness (for trackday use mostly). But now i'd like to know if airbag could still deploy if belt sensor knows that i'm not using original seat belt? Anyone?

depends which airbag you have side impact sensors so they will deploy the seat bags if you have them... but as for the frontal bags ( dash + steering wheel ) you need your seat belt onn as your weight is thrusted forwards it pull that little cord near were you plug your belt in which then acitavted the pretensioners and sets the bags of

Isn't that pretensioner that pulls when airbag go off so it pulls you to the seat? Anyway now i use both belts so i don't have to look at that red light on dash. :(

I thought the pretensioner was there to pull you into the seat on impact, didn't think it was anything to do with firing the airbags?

the pretensioners are there to pull you back in the seat so you are in the correct position when the airbag goes off

But basicly airbig goes off if you are not using original belt? With racing harness you sure are in correct position anyway. ;)

will all depend on how tight you have the harnesses as the pretensioners really do pull u back in the seat hard

i always thought that you needed to wear your seatbelt plus something to do with seat runners also. as if you're one of these women that sit with a 1 inch gap between them and the bloody steering wheel then the computer compensates for how far away you're sat from the airbag by delaying firing or speeding it up.
