You will need to jack the whole front up on the 172 to flop the roll bar down to get the struts off. Also be careful the bottom of the strut doesnt damage the driveshaft gaitor.
I've always managed to get them off easily enough without touching the arb? Just have to watch the driveshaft gaitor as said as the bottom of the strut likes to try and put a hole in it.
I didnt word that well, i meant if you jack the whole front up both of the suspension arms go down as low as they will go (the arb doesnt push one side up) making it easier to unbolt/ bolt the strut back to the hub.
Ah got ya, yep definetly do that or you'll be making life a lot harder for yourself. Thought it'd be common sense jack both sides up really, especially when you having both side struts out and it should be on stands not just a jack.
