Doors key lock

Can I use metal polish on the doors key lock on mk2 ph1?

^^^^ Yeah course you can , autosol or autoglym metal polish will bring em up nice n shiny .Both available from Halfords .

will it damage on the paintwork if I made mistake?

Or do I need to take the key lock out to polish it??

Its safe if it gets on the paintwork . Just use a small blob on a clean cloth , it won't need much , if any gets on the paint just wipe it off .

Avoid using to much and getting it trapped in it. I just use AG Super resin on mine when I do the paintwork.
