Drilling the dash!!

I tried to drill a hole in the windscreen plastic airvents on the dash and basically achieved a shredded hole. See pic (its the hole to the left!):

How do you drill a neat hole in this plastic? Are there special drill bits which will leave a nice finish?

i usally use a little bit of tape on first and drill away. never had that before

Looks like the plastics melted slightly . Normal hss drill bit is all that should be required . It doesn't look that bad tbh , just trim round the hole with a craft knife to tidy it up .
