caution not necessary if you're replacing, brute force and a big hammer and a drift to get the bearing out will be more effective

do you remove gearbox oil when replacing nearside driveshaft?
Yeh. You won't loose it all, but you'll loose a lot out of that side

Given the time and effort (plus cost) of swapping the driveshaft - I’d definitely factor in replacement gearbox oil. Bit of a false economy otherwise, imo.
