Drive shaft maybe?

I have a Mk2 172 on about 82,000. After yesturday been getting a whurring noise for the left hand side?

And its doesn't seem to be brakes, gear box, clutch or any belts?

So all i can think it is is the Drive shaft(been told it will need replace at some point but is ok about a year ago) or the berrings?

When i jack the car up is there anything in particular i need to look for?

behind brakes there will be the linkage form the DS to the hub.. it has teeth on if that looks corroded and is spinning freely , needs replacing.

Haven't looked yet but my borther said if its not knocking when turning its the bearings?

Off tho garage today!

Heard back from the garage and its coming from the gear box! Grr!

So new gearbox then! Boooo!

Drive shafts are the only majourish part of my car not to break yet, arg so they must be next.
