driveshaft wont locate please help

  1.6 16v clio priv
Right had a little accident over xmsa, finally got parts and still wont fit.
I hit the kerb on a roundabout on the passenger side.

Bent the shocker,
bent the wishbone,
bent the anti roll bar.
damaged the driveshaft.

Problem im having is when i put it back together and drove it at first it drove fine. then suddenly no drive. after investigation am finding that when i float the hub and push it in the driveshaft locates properly but the hub is about an inch too far in to connect with the ball joint on the wishbone. Its as if the shaft is an inch too short but doublr checked it and it isnt.
The haynes manual says that on some earlier mark 3s there may be a roll-pin fitted to the inner joint of the driveshaft what is this and could it be what im missing.

Car is 1.6 16v privlege december 01

You've damage the stupid little thingies in the gearbox that hope the dif together it sounds like.
I'm sure your car should have a driveshaft pins holes in which case you should fit the pins.
I'll find my Mk1 Cio book (I assume the one you own) and tell you what the thingie that broke is.

Its a mk2 edde......on the mk1's there isn't a rtainaing pin on the n/s shaft, it just slot in and the hub the other end and the CV boot hold it there

  A Fast One!
is there an inner CV joint? if so it could be that which is knackered? it would appear to seat correctly but lose drive suddenly.............
