can anyone tell me what the shaft on the left is from?

The one on the right is from my 2002 172 non cup which supposably shouldnt have the bearing/cv bolted to the engine.

I have taken the abs ring off it to see if it fitted the shaft on the left which it did as the one on the left never had one.

The left shaft looks like a ph1 item. Ph2s have equal length shafts (with mounting bracket on the rear of the block).

This is exactly what i thought. Would the ph1 shaft fit my ph2 if i didnt use the support bearing?

My 172 ph2 had a ph1 shaft which unfortunately gave up. Should fit, but i guess they changed the shaft design for a reason...
