If I was just to test drive a mates car and I got stopped for some reason what sort of punishment would I be looking at?

6 points and a £200 fine typically. Although your mate can be charged aswell if the vehicle is in his name with knowingly allowing somone uninsured to drive it.
Test drive isn't an excuse doesn't take 100 yards to crash

you wont get caught tho,

Takes 2 minutes to have an accident! Regardless of fault.

Or a random police stop/check

Not worth the risk....

Its one of the main reasons why are insurance is high because of uninsured drivers on the road.

Either get a cover note from his insurance or yours. Only about £10-£20 for the day.

Think you need to be over 25 infact.

Think he's right. But lots of companies don't allow it anymore. Think its because people get insured on crap cars and then drive nice cars insured by family/friends who have lower premiums.
