ds2500

  172, Tiguan
DS3000 front and DS2500 rear on a real track car. Those Yellowstuffs arent even worth to mention, tried two sets and they almost killed me some times with random massive fade.

That goes against everything i've ever thought about Yellows. Granted the other colours aren't up to much, but i've got nothing but praise for the yellow pads. Great value for money and work all day long on track without fade.

Each to their own though I guess :)

...and if you can deal with them clanking and rattling in the calipers and also if you're happy for everyone to block their ears every time you brake...they squeal like a stuck pig.
Like Chausters silver 182 in this video! I'm in the Cup BTW ;)

Just check around with the hardcore trackday/competition guys and see what they have to say...

Ive tried 2sets with new RBF600 fluid between each set and cup racer brake cooling. Despite this they went so hot that the discs were glowing all around the track. Large bits came loose from the pad and worst of all I got such amounts of fade that I almost went of the track a few times. So just forget about saving a few bucks buying yellows if you do serious track and plan for a long life go with a propper pad.

I have used DS2500's without a single problem, bite not much different from stock IMO but they never fade. If you go up to the DS3000 you have a real race pad and a bite thats not from this world, you will love it. Nothing else will ever go on my Clio.

noticed a few people complaining about rattling CLs; i've just fitted a set with new carrier springs (which aren't provided), and have no rattling - just thought that might be a poss. solution to that particular prob

well ive just ordered some ds2500 front pads and omp rear pads off the bay for 135 posted

had to just buy some makin me mad thinkin about what to get all day lol

I've got DS2500 on the front and some £13 effort pads on the back.

The Ferrodos do squeal abit under light braking and do create alot of brake dust but they do have terrific stopping power.

Yes, they'll probably say DS2500 are s**te :p

There's a world of difference between DS2500 and DS3000 though. The latter is great pad, classed as a "Race" pad but it actually works well from cold, just gets better when hot and offers immense stopping power (feels like an all-in-one big brake kit). In fact it can sometimes feel TOO much and be difficult to modulate (could lock the brakes easily at 100mph?!)

However there are still problems, namely the dust which is immense (worse than DS2500) but it is also aggressive/corrosive so is definitely not an option if you like your alloys or paintwork (it sticks on to the lower half of the car and rusts). I had good experience of DS3000 for a while on my trackcar but then one set for no reason broke up and chunks were sticking to the disc that required chipping off (gave massive vibration). I ran Yellowstuff after that, there is a definite drop in comparative performance (DS3000 has awesome friction rating / pedal feel) but never had any problems with fade and always super smooth.

I can't comment on any EBC pads as I've never run them, but I now have a set of DS2500s installed.

I originally tried them a few years back and thought they were s***, wilting without too much provacation on track. Then I gave PF97, Pagid Blue, and most recently Carbone Lorraine pads a go all of which are miles (infinitely) better suited to track work than the DS2500 fast road pad.

Got a set of DS2500s thrown in for nowt when I bought some new calipers a while back so when the CLs finally died on the Cup installed the DS2500s thinking...maybe they weren't all that bad?

I was wrong. Very wrong. They were and still are poo. At Rockingham recently one fast or two moderate laps was enough to have me backing off.

I can't wait for them to wear out so I can get some CLs back in there.

Yellows have been fine for me on track as well. I think allot has to do with how people bed there pads in.
