DVD burner won't burn faster than 1.2x on vista

Tried to burn stuff with imgburn and nero and it won't go any faster than 1.2x.

I'm sure I have a similar problem on my xp partition, but I managed to get it fixed.

Anyone help me out?

Manufactures drivers/firmware for the drive? In the properties of the drive under recording check the write speed is set at maximum (providing thats there in vista)
