Dynamique Features & Questions

Hi guys, a few questions...

I believe Dynamiques have automatic wipers and lights?
Well mine doesnt!
Sometimes the back wiper comes on by itself, but this is when the front wipers are on.
Ok, they speed up when you increase your speed, is this what they mean by automatic?
And if I drive down the road in the dark my lights dont come on!
Few other questions...

How much performance do you think I will lose if I put on 16" ?
And do will a 60mm drop on k-tec springs be ok when 16" are on?
Anyone on here got 16" with a 60mm drop?
If so, do you have problems with speed bumps, kerbs etc?

Thanks guys.

My mate had auto wipers, and auto lights (52 plate Dynamique), the wipers come on when the windscreen gets wet. You can disable them somehow - it says in your manual (this may have been done on your car).

I have 16 inch wheels on -60mm springs, have had a fully loaded car with no rubbing and no problems with speed humps. If I drive up to a kerb them my front bumper will lightly scrape on it (so I dont park so close now).

yep light come on when it gets dark, wiper come on when it rains and rear wiper comes on if its raining and i put it in reverse

no probs with 16s and 60mm plenty have done it but just watch your front end on kerbs

jes, i had 6 in the car including me and no scrapes on 17s with -60mm ....crazy

Cheers

Its a Y reg Clio Dynamique 1.2 16V

Ill have a look in the manual and see if they have been disabled.

only the ph2 ones have auto wipers and lights

ive heard of a clio lowerd by 105mm and didnt rub at all apparently

Y reg dymaniques didnt have the auto lights/ wipers or heat refecting windscreen hence why internal radar detectors worked on these model of cars and not new ones.

That will be Freds lowered 110mm at the back and 100 (or 105 I forget) at the front with 17 on it but he had to remove the arch liner and get some work done (he did it himself though) with a cutting tool

Nice car and thanks for your input guys.
Ollzie, did you use springs or coilovers? I was thinking aboutt he K-TEC 60mm lowering springs?
If I got them would I need dampers? Dont know whaty they are just what Ive heard around here?!

Mines on 60mm springs, original dampers.

You can just get the springs, many people on here have. The ride can feel a little harsh over larger bumps/potholes, but you will notice less body roll and a slight handling advantage.

Uprating the dampers would give you better ride quality and handling than just springs alone.

OK cool, did you just get the springs then?

And if I decided on dampers, does anyone recommend any or any links for em?

Thanks

Btw... with the auto windscreen wipers....

They wont come on automatically for the first time rain hits it! u will have to switch it down to manual for the first time then put it back to position b for auto. then it will work.

Not sure why it doesnt, new technology i guess.

Cheers, but I dont think mine has it, It doesnt have that big sensor at the top of the window, but the back wiper come on when Ii first use the fromt ones, er great....

Cant wait till 1:00pm, Im at work doing overtime.
Saving for those alloys!

seems strange, should it be like this or should it just start up when it detects water on the screen? is this sensor also for the auto lights then does it double up?

Lowering 60mm is quite a lot for the original dampers your best handling gains will be with dampers as well. There hasnt been anyone as far as I know whos dampers have failed on 60mm drop but most havnt kept them on for more than a year so.

Best lowering is with coilover from what I heard the ktec ones are supposed to be excellent.

Yup, it should be like this as my mates dynamique is also like it! its a pain in the ass really.... but ive got into the routine of activating them whenever i get in the car now! as for the auto headlights, im pretty sure its the same sensor...

How much are K-TEC coilovers?
I saw some on there for £500....lot of money eh.

So, what happens if your dampers fail on you and how much are better dampers?

The K-tec ones are ~£575 but I think members get s 10% discount there on the website.

Dampers slow down the occilations ie if you push down on your cars front the spring compresses and when you let go it bounches back up. If you didnt have dampers or they broke then the car would continue to occilate up and down for ages dampers sort of restrict the up and down motion so the car stops moving quicker.

Cheers dudes.
No cash for coilovers yet...
What the hell do I do?
Im so impatient....how much are other dampers and what do you recommend?

Demon Tweeks do a full lowering kit for ~£300 I think and members get a discount there which is good. Most people want to go lower than whatever they have so Id recomend saving for the coilover and then buy them.

All the normal compampanies are good ie Koni etc. The Europen ones have TUC approval as well so are better garenteed.
