ebay question. buying privately

hi is there any way to buy an item on ebay so that is doesn't show up in your public feedback history? it is a present and i don't want the recipient to know from looking at my feedback.

the seller would have to make it a private auction first, otherwise it'll be there for all to see for the preset time. (90 days iirc?)

good idea, but be warned that some sellers use an auto feedback system where you get +ve feedback seconds after you send the payment.

good point darth cake. it is a shame you can,t hide the link to the item. it would also mean I couldn't leave them feedback either :-( is it fruadulant to have a second account? cheers for the help guys.

No it's not a problem solong as you don't bid on your own items, that's known as shill-bidding. Give someone you know the ££ and ask them to buy it on their account instead?

good plan cash to a mate sound like the way forward. I also got caught out once by my feed back buying kinky boots for my girlfriend by her brother who was browsing my feedback he ripped the piss out me for ages!!

If neither of you leave feedback then it won't show up on your history. You could always leave feedback at a later date after you have given them the present
