EBC Yellowstuff

  BMW E36 328i Sport
I had a set of these on my saxo only for a week though. They were quite good what do people think of them on the Clio? I usually ignore ebc when it came to brakes but alot of the saxo guys were raving about them and there cheaper than the pads they are ment to be as good as.

Try out the brand new Bluestuff pads from EBC , they are great , better than Ferodo DS2500's in my opinion

  Lotus Elise
Red stuff, with turbo grooved discs on my lexus were fantastic. Everyone slags green off but never tried them.

Ebc have some negative feedback, I had them on my 182 for a trackday and they cracked badly. Pics can be found on my project thread, and that was 30 mins of track time, 3 ten min sessions.

It seems to be a hit or a miss but I wouldn't risk it with something as important as brakes.

That's just my experiences and opinions tho!

Tryed ebc in my corsa c sri and were awful. Not tried new bluestuff etc only greenstuff. What i have read on forums i wouldnt buy.

It seems people buy the name with ebc rather than what they can do. Only after they buy them they find out what they are like. Which is a shame.

On my Twingo the brakes are unreal for a standard car and i have never had brake fade. Sticking to renault pads and discs when they get replaced.:)

Did you bed them in properly first? I know lots of people who use EBC yellows for track use and the only person to ever have a problem didn't bed them in properly. I'll give you my own opinion in three days time.

Yea, they were on the car for around 1000 miles before the trackday

The pads cracked?

I'm only on about the yellow stuff pads as I've heard green and red were crap.

Anyone compared them to ds2500's?

I got red, much better than some people say, greenstuff are ok, decent if u just wana step up from standard.

I've had Yellows in since May.

When the car was down at 519, Dan pointed out some hairline cracks saying thats where they crack, but I'm yet to see anything develop ;)

In regards to braking performance, they're average when driving normally, pottering about town etc... but with a bit of heat in them, they're fantastic.

I ran yellowstuff R pads on my saxo and for the money they were good but lacked in feel and feedback but I never doubted they would stop me. The DS2500's have a sharper bite and last just as well but are far less 'wooden' (hard to put into wods what I mean) and confidence inspiring. Hard to compare the yellows to the DS2500's as clio brakes are better than saxo's to start off with but the yellows s**t all over mintex 1144's

Conclusion - yellow stuff r were good for the money but lacked feel - having used DS2500 doubt id go back to yellows

Snap. Had both on my 182 - only replaced the discs after 3.5 years of pretty much daily usage, a few weeks back.

I think the difference in opinion with EBC comes from people using them for track use and those (like me) just using them on their everyday car. The only 'real' hammer they have had was on a spirited drive(s) at a CS meet.

My OEM pads were literally destroyed by 24k and tbh, I never really felt as confident in them as the EBC alternatives. I'm currently running RedStuff pads all round with OEM discs - mainly due to a fantastic prices that I got for a new set of Reno discs. :)

Both Redstuff and Yellowstuff lasted over 100 laps of the Nurburgring, and were acutally pretty good imo.

I'm now on CL RC6 pads and they have more braking power but they also seem to want to stick to the disk more when you're just driving normally, the EBCs were like stock pads just with slightly better stopping power. I actually quite liked the Redstuff, similar stopping power compared to the Yellows although slightly less heat resistant.

This lap was with Yellowstuff in the front with standard rear pads

I though they were good on track on the sax and just needed to be warm to be good on road. What's the price difference between them and ds2500's?

I will be offering out 5 sets of my grooved discs and bluestuff pads next week FOC to 5 members on here for some honest feedback on the new bluestuff pads , then offering them out on a group buy if there is some interest , they will be quite a bit cheaper than the DS2500's .

Up till recently I have never been a fan of EBC pads as being a serious contender in the performance pad market , these new bluestuff pads have certainly changed my mind , if I didnt think they were any good , I wouldn't sell them

@Ian,
Are the Blues seen as a replacement for, or an upgrade too, the yellows, would you see them as trackable or just fast road?
Thanks

No , they are a step up from yellows , the blues are great coming out of your street first thing in the morning , and flat out round castle coombe , they are great everywhere , a fantastic all round pad

When will this be happening? Very interested to hear feedback on these after my own experiences with red stuff

Love the yellow's. I've had them on my last 3 cars and they're on the 172 now. Take all sorts of abuse and keep going. Current set have done about 18k of mixed driving! :)

This is why I am setting up this test , not many people will have good things to say about them , I have never been a fan of green or red stuff pads , the new blues have changed my mind , they are very good.
My son has a 360hp EVO 7 and on Castle Coombe he could not fade them , they are wearing very well , and are not hard on the discs , they are fairly low dust as well

Ian- I was planning on getting some carbon loraine pads, would the blue stuff be on par? My car is hardly ever used on the road, mainly track and hopefully some sprints as well.

Also if the feedback is positive will you be offering group buy?

I'm thinking about holding of on buying a new set up if these are cheaper and offer gpod stopping power for my requirements.

We are looking for a different pads for next year as we found the PF97's just didn't do it for us,for whatever reason we didn't seem to get on with them.Been looking at yellow's but did notice the Blues and are giving them some thought.
