ECU chip, any good?

Im thinking of chipping my mk2 ph1, i know they are pretty easy to fit, but where would you get one from, and how much. has anyone done it (pictures would help) also what improvement in BHP does it give, alot, nothing etc. cheers guys

a physical "chip" doesn't really exist too much these days

its a remap (a computer programme is loaded onto you ecu)

or for proper results it's mapped on the RR and on the road, but that's usually more expensive

ok, cool, how much are they, any ideas, also, any improvment in bhp

depends on engine and mods, not too up on the 1.6 varient tbh mate, someone on here will know for sure though. Other thing to consider when tuning is that you ideall need, filter, exhaust, decat etc and for the price of those you can get a 172 engine and box for these days.

ok, cheers guys thanks for the help, ive only just got my first car literaly a few weeks ago, i've put a pipercross viper induction kit in it, but some ppl, including you are talking of a decat, what is this and where can i get one fitted. i know i sound young and naive but to be honest, i wanna learn and dont have a clue.
