***ECU Fault.. Help Needed ASAP***

Hopefully the auto spark will have this resolved tomorrow :(

Should i just have the immobiliser bypassed then removed?

UPDATE..

Still not got the car back as they cant find the fault..

Car is jumping from 12v to 18v according to a "specialist"
 
havent read all the posts , but have they checkeked the earth on the gearbox and volt drop along the offending circuit?

the car was runnung fine for 12hrs or so after the box n clutch was fitted..

Ive had to buy another car for work.. L200 pick up :)

its doing what?????

only thing that can cause that is the alternator,, nothing else physically there that would do that

and if the volt reg in the alternator has died and put 18v through the system its probably killed the ecu/uch etc

Well as for ECU being a rare problem I would have to disagree as mine was a 'kin nightmare to live with and I was quoted £300 for a new ECU, a guy I spoke to also said that he has had to replace ECU's on quite a lot of clio's too.

G4Z the car does have petrol in it doesn't it? You might laugh but it is possible even if the needle is on a bar or two.

car has 3/4 tank of juice mate..

i have a budget of just over £1000 to get it back on the road but cheaper the better tbh..

Also got my gearbox and clutch supplied AND fitted for free ;)

Ktec can supply unlocked ecu's Gaz, all be it they are remapped but theyre only about 300 quid, surely that would cure your problem? You just have to supply a working clio sport ECU, surely they cant be that difficult to get hold of

Cheers mate but i need the full package which i should hear about tomorrow..

I need ECU, ECH, Key fob and another bit that i cant remember!

Got the car back earlier with loads of bits missing form the engine bay..

Also couldnt get the windows up and none of the lights work :S

Dont understand why you need all the bits if its just the ecu, surely if you get an unlocked one it shuld plug and play or am i missing somthing?

Just the reason i say that is when ktec do the exchange unit they have no info or code from the ecu on your car, its totally new and mapped, when you plug it in you do somthing and it locks to your car, plips and the other necessary bits, helped my mate stick one in his car

I think it might just be worth a phone call, might save some cash, a lotta hassle and youd have an extra few bhp/lb/ft to boot

Had a cable stap in the loom, which to this day is still baffling me and happened randomly when going over a bump......anyway when the wire snapped it sent a spike back to the ECU and blew it so I needed a new ECU. For the ECU and labour it cost me approx £500

I'm confused lol Have you been told the ECU is faulty? I don't get how the volts are jumping up to 18v if the car isnt running there's no way it should jump up to that. But let's just say it is, what's to say you arent going to blow the new ECU?

Car needs to go to Renault I'd say. Bite the bullet.

Reference the post about the spiking, this is a common fault on most modern cars, jump starting does cause this. You'll know for sure bu taking it to Renault.

Got it done at R Sport, which is a franchise of Renault but they are a lot better with prices and service. Only went there as they were the closest to my house to transport it there otherwise it would have gone down to Rentech.

well i can get an ECU for £60 and fit it myself..

But the UCH needs changing too so its a job that i cant do tbh

You need to get it programmed to the car and set up correctly, which is where the gargages get most of their money from but if you can fit it yourself then you will save some dosh. Only thing is, you will not get a warranty on the ECU.

with a replacement ecu package its plug n play mate (so ive been told anyway!)

no mate.. but with the 18v problem and no power coming thru the ECU i dont think it would be the TDC sensor!

not sure if you've tried him but if not try matt, 0125438661

you'll need ecu, uch key and immobiliser code/chassis number of donor vehicle (the last two being vital)

and yep it should be plug and play but it has been known they lock up and need the immobiliser recoding for no aparent reason once being unplugged

you can get the immobiliser code from renault as long as you have the chassis number...

the chassis number is the vital bit.

but matt has access to the system so he can get the immobiliser code for you thats why i mentioned both

you been down to eurotune in hillington ???
they have a rolling road and they can map ecu's there give them a shout see if they can help
