they make some big claims , cant see that much from just a chip

Gary Brown had his car superchipped (loads of delaers all over the Uk) an it seems to be quicker on the 1/4 mile. Best to search for a post he has done on the subject.

Ask Chris (aka chris n nic) about this, as he has his Cup Superchipped and ended up getting it removed again as he only gained +3bhp & +lb/ft of torque.

He now has an R-Sport ECU and says its miles better. Hell be getting it on the rollers this Saturday too...

i would be put off by anyone that claims that much, theyll be the customers getting business off people who know no better - get one with realistic claims, i see that as a good sign of their worthiness.

Cheers for the mention Edde, but my Ive never referred to 1/4 mile improvements - Ive never been quarter-miling!!

I do like my superchip remap, though - loads of torque. I posted about 4 weeks ago to say Id had it RRd in very hot temp of 91F, and it still gave 167bhp and 154lbft at the fly. My point was that that ambient temp is going to reduce power by maybe -5%, so if you add that back on bhp would be about 176ish and torque would be 162ish: OK, so BHP is therefore only up 4bhp, but torque is up a whooping 15lb ft from 147 as standard. I think thats worth having, and you can feel the urgency it now has at 3000-4000 revs - feels more torquey than my Golf VR6 ever did!

Of course, the real reason I chose the superchip was for its reversibility should any warranty issues rear their ugly head - I was really up for a an R-sport ECU until I checked the warranty position with R-sport themselves - it aint covered.

Roamers 172 with Viper, K-tec exhaust and Superchip re-map pulled 184bhp on the rollers (two different occasions) at Power Engineering

Cant remember the wheel figures

Yup it did :D I cant remember at the wheels figures, but Power Engineering has such a good rep for their RR (And their people, they dont talk sh*t, theyll just tell yit a how it is good or bad)

But now its just lucky that it fires up at all LoL

But soon its be a different story, oh yes Raaaaaaaa

So on say a std 172, superchips is the way to go on these? Whats the stand on warranty and how much including fitting are they??

the big problem is getting a standard one to be near to 172bhp to start with!!

Mine was 163bhp standard!!! then K-tec zorst + Viper was roaded at 158bhp!!!! but the fueling was well and truely screwed due to the viper. After the Superchip remap it pulled 180bhp....so you could say I was well pleased.

£300 for the chip then what ever it costs for the RR. What ever mods you have the generic Superchip can be modified to take these into account at £50 a file.

Good luck

Darren_hg, Try PMing RB_172, hes had his done and it upd his to 188 bhp, although he did get in done down in Hampshire but he also find out where the best places in the UK to go were.

how much is RR?
London Superchips charged me £350 total.... it was Rolling Roaded 3 times. Normally charge around £50 a go so in total not too bad

Darren_hg - it was £293 inc vat from Demon Tweeks here in Wrexham. If you look at superchips website http://www.superchips.co.ukhttp://www.superchips.co.uk youll find that £293 is a standard charge for supplying and fitting at any approved installer. They also give a dyno pic which you should take with a pinch of salt - they claim 182bhp I think!

Its not a "chip" as such - its a firmware/software remap that is "flashed" into the existing ECU which overwrites the renault settings for fuel/air mix, timing, etc. The beauty is that they give you a memory card to take away with your original settings on, so that if you need to take it back to standard they just "flash" the old settings back in; - its £50 a "flash". Ooer missus.
