....£100 quid for front brake pads....

and £102 for rears....

Plus £42 quid to change my lightbulb thing above my regisration...!

Does this not seem to be a bit much???

my car is still under warranty....

but i could go out and buy a much nicer set of brakes for that much surely.....*AND THATS ONLY FOR PADS...

god knows how much disks cost..??

  MERCEDES CLS AMG

front pads 7701206379 £38.50 + vat

rear pads 7701207034 £36.00 + vat

its the labour rate thats the killer with Renault....... £60 - £80 at some dealers. Pads take about 20 minutes to fit.

which lightbulb thing mate?

they tried to charge me £42 for the wee plastic oval shaped unit under the plates...

claiming "it was corroded"

considering my car is less than a year old i dont think this should have happened...

i told him where to stick his "bulb and unit"

ive got 3yrs before my first MOT...plenty of time to get it fixed

(IF IN FACT IT IS REALLY BROKE)

Oh dear, this has worried me with these prices. Can you just settle this and answer my question. How long do brake pads usually last on the Clio? I got a 05 reg Clio, and it has done around 3k miles. I am aware it also reflects on how hard you brake, etc.. But can anyone give me an idea?

i think i did use those words bad lol :D

???

When i had my 1.2 the brakes lasted about 36000 miles i think....and i drove like an arse...

Brakes for the 1.2 are a lot cheaper than wot 172/182s pay

my 172 mk2 has been driven very hard, has taken a lot of back road thrashes and has covered 34.5k, never had discs or pads changed.

i can feel the difference when jumping into my 172 from using my gfs 1.5 dci 54 plate, brakes are pretty nackered now.

my pads where 90% worn...

and the wee hazzard light was on....

Was scarred to go above 50mph for fear of brake failure...the corsas had a field day with me...;)

I have done 23,000

It is the stop light and the wee handbrake light that comes on...

Originally it flickers if you go round corners fast or up a hill fast...but eventually comes on an stays on...

Something to do with sensors on the pads...i originally thought it was my fluid level..

i have had the two lights come on flickering once when cornering at about 50mph but thats it.

people are morons if they pay dealer prices!

firstly, brake pads couldnt be easier to change, so give it a go, and secondly, a back street garage would do it for half the cost. finally, why would u wanna put standard items back on?!!?!?!?

thats what mine started off like...

but eventually the lights on mine where showing all the time, when stationary on a hill, when accelerating round a corner, driving up a very gentle slope...

thats why i had to get them changed...yours might be okay for a while longer....

1. I dont want to kill myself...doing something wrong..

2. I dont want those W**ks invalidating my warranty.

3. I wont a clean full service history (renault parts) so when i sell the car..

4. They seem to last a hell of a lot longer than Partco brakes.

5. Backstreet garage would love to get hold of my car

6. I have money to burn

My pads last about 16k although this set will be lucky to last 10k. However when pads are £14 or so from halfords for standard Renault ones from the same factory Renault use and disks are £25 each its

my 172 pads did 22k befoer I changed them and they still had a fair bit on I guess the abs makes life abit easier on pads.

Theres a guide on changing pads tho m8, Im a disaster when it comes to mechanical stuff but I managed it ok, Ill never use a garage to do anything like that agian
