eibach or apex

  Monaco 172 + mk1 RSi
Currently got eibach sportlines on my ph1 172 but i feel it needs to go lower, the few ive seen on apex springs look lower BUT everyone says apex springs are poo

has anyone on here had/tried both springs ?

i love the sportlines there great but i do want to go lower, i hear stories of the apex springs being "bad", is it the ride thats bad with the apex springs or handling aswell ?

also, ive got standard dampers at the moment, are the apex springs ok with these?

any help or personal experience appreciated

thanks jamie

Ive heard that apex are badly made and the ride is awful. Eibach are the best springs out there. I wouldn't swap mine for any others

is it just the ride tho, is the handling actually bad, i dont car about ride aslong as it handles well, but like i say it needs to go lower, the only feedback ive seen using the search tool is people saying there bad but nobody has actually compared the handling directly to the eibach

I have read that they're crashy and the car will move around a lot more over rough road surfaces

In my opinion as a direct comparison to eibachs they dont even compare....if you want to go lower, get coilovers :)

if im honest im not sure on coilovers yet, my set up was going to be koni dampers and sportlines purely because of the awesome reveiws, i dont think coilovers are right for me, the cars a daily car and will never go on track so they seem overkill and if i got coilovers i would want to go low low which is no good for me as im a country road person lol

If i happen to source only front dampers i would also consider trophy rear dampers

But latley she looks like she needs to go lower, my only other option would be to try 16 inch wheels and see how it looks :/

if the ride is poo the handling will be similar, however if you can get a 2nd hand set cheap you can decide for yourself - everyone will have a slightly different opinion on the same thing - best way is to find out yourself if you can

The answer seems clear here!

I'm considering Eibach sportlines at the moment. First time lowering any vehicle. Where's the best place to buy them? Kam Racing looks good so far.

Should I replace shocks/dampers too?

Apex springs are hideous with standard shocks. I think they'd be better if you used uprated shocks with them, but there's really not a lot of point

I'll sell Eiback, PI, or Spax happily but not apex

yep, you wont go wrong with Kam Racing

there was a chap on here that had spax springs on his. an alternative to apex as it has the drop but the comfort aswell. i cant comment on the comfort as ive never had them but the drop was spot on, lower than the eibachs. i think he's name was pritchard ans had an rb182.

Pritchard is infact on Apex. I PM'd him coz couldn't find the Spax ones I thought he was referring too. He doesn't seem to mind them.

my car has seen cup, apex, proline and sportline springs.
the best all rounders were the sportlines by far (but i do wish they were 15mm lower)
apex looked great but gave a terrible ride quality and skittled around corners.
prolines were great handling wise but didn't really lower the car at all.
